Descendants of Peter & Barbara Buckwalter Hershey

The History of this branch of the Hershey family in America begins in 1719 when Andrew or Hans Hersche with his two sons, Andrew and Benjamin, settled along the Little Conestoga Creek west of the city of Lancaster, PA.  Hans had moved his family from Appenzell, Switzerland to the Palatinate in Germany to escape religious persecution.  Being of the Mennonite faith, he believed in pacifism and could not conscientiously participate in war.
