Family Record of Lester W. Martin & Hannah Elizabeth (Fisher) Martin
Representing the lives of the author’s paternal grandparents, the book includes Lester W. Martin’s background in the Stauffer (Pike) Mennonite Church and other Old Order Mennonite traditions and Hannah E. Fisher’s background growing up in Loag’s Corner, Cambridge and other locations near Honey Brook, in Chester Co., Pa. The book includes eight moves across portions of eastern Lancaster County as the couple raised their nine children together and attended Martindale Mennonite Church. They eventually built a house at “Noodle Doosie,” along the Muddy Creek between Frysville and Red Run where they lived from 1964 through 1997. The book includes a chronological record and description of each of 144 quilts that Hannah made and gifted throughout her life. Many of these quilts are photographed in the book so their identity and traceability can continue into the future. For those beyond the immediate family, the book includes considerable never-before-published details about the Swiss origins of the Mennonite Martin and Weaver/Weber families and the Amish Fisher family. This book is a treasure trove for everyone interested in local Martin, Weaver/Weber or Fisher family history! (650pp. color illus. index. hardcover. Author, 2021.)
